Branding

Onsite Digital, founded by Rachel, is a web development studio that helps small and medium businesses to sell more by revamping their current e-commerce and static websites or creating new ones.

When Rachel and I started working together, she was in the process of rebuilding her website, wanting to back it up with solid, strategically designed branding. As with all my branding projects, we started with a strategy that included a moodboard. The strategy enables me to understand the ins and outs of the business I’m working with in order to make the right design choices.

Next, we moved on to logo design. In Rachel’s case, I included elements of her lifestyle (she loves climbing) and merged them with the representation of ‘rapid business growth’ and the slash symbol frequently used in the coding)—this is why I used the steep-slope bar in the centre of the logo. In addition to that, I’ve opted for very minimal but strong typography to not only appeal to her unisex audience but also convey reliability and security. The clean typography and overall layout also symbolise the nature of her business (digital—using clean code).

For the colour palette, I’ve chosen a selection of greens (representing her love for climbing and nature), pinks (representing the feminine side of her digital business—typically a cold, masculine type of business), and neutrals to balance the palette.
